A good academic score is a primary criterion for most scholarships in Australia, however, it also depends on various other factors such as your chosen destination, your subject of interest, and level. Some other factors like extracurricular activities and volunteering can also be used as an advantage for scholarships. IELTS is commonly accepted by all Australian institutions, so you may also need to declare scores on an English language proficiency test. Most scholarships in Australian universities cover the tuition fee, but some also cover the living and travel expenses. Getting a scholarship in Australia can be hectic, so you must prepare well ahead of time to secure your chances. If you are planning to study in Australia, you will need to obtain an Australian student visa. You will be required to fill a student visa form online, pay the required amount, and may as well appear for an interview. For obtaining a student visa, you will have to prove some essential information to the Department of Home Affairs to meet the Australian student visa requirements i.e. Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement and Financial requirements. Under the GTE requirement, you must be able to prove that you have a genuine intention of staying in Australia for academic purposes. Once done, you will have to apply for the Student Visa (subclass 500) online. You will need to obtain a Confirmation of Enrollment letter registered under the Commonwealth Register of Institution of Courses. For completing the application form, you will be required to provide financial proof that you will be able to cover your tuition, lodging, and travel. In 2018, the living expenses were set at AU$ 20,290. You will also have to prove that you have 5 years of educational experience in English. You will also be needed to provide character and health certificates for the verification of student visas. You will have to submit the following documents to verify your visa; Completed Australian student visa application form (157A), Paid visa application fee – currently AU$620 (~US$420) in most cases, copy of passport biodata page, Certificate of Enrolment or Letter of Offer, evidence of sufficient funds, evidence of health insurance cover, English proficiency test results, criminal record check results, and four recent passport-sized photographs.
For abroad, a study in Australia is the best option as 3-year Indian degrees are accepted, GRE/GMAT/SAT not required for postgrad courses, flexible immigration laws are favorable for international students and students are eligible for PERMANENT RESIDENCE upon completion. Students going to Australia under Visa, are entitled to work 40 hours per fortnight (two weeks) during their studies and full-time during their school breaks. During a break or when the course is not in session, students can work for unlimited hours. The only proviso for students is that they cannot start working until the course commences. The majority of international graduates who chose to pursue Australia’s post-study work visa secure full-time work, however, according to a new report less than half end up working in a role related to their field of study. There is substantial student support for international students studying in Australia. Students can gain from working while studying with a lot of various other benefits. Students can also apply for the Temporary Graduate Visa Subclass 485 to obtain a permanent residency later. This visa enables eligible international students to live and work in Australia temporarily after completing their studies for two years.
