Education System

The education system in Cyprus is managed by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth

Education is divided into four main stages: Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, and Higher (Tertiary) education

  • Pre-primary — often from about age 4 years 8 months to 5 years 8 months — leads up to primary school
  • Primary education lasts 6 years, typically covering ages 6 to 12 (Grades 1–6).
    Secondary education runs from about age 12 to 18
  • Higher (Tertiary) Education -Tertiary education in Cyprus includes both public and private universities, as well as non-university higher education institutions (colleges, vocational institutes, etc.).
  • Public/state schooling (at least through secondary school) is free of charge.

Admission Intakes

Most universities in Cyprus have two main intakes per year: Fall (Autumn) and Spring
